To Smart for Our Own Good?

proverbs3_7 (1)Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.
-Proverbs 3:7-8

We often face situations in life where we must choose between our way or God’s way.  I remember when I was in college, I accidentally scraped someone’s car as I was pulling into a parking space.  No one was around.  I had a choice to make.  Do I write a note to the owner of the car I hit and take responsibility or do I quickly move to another parking space so no one would know I did it?

Doing the right thing isn’t always easy.  In fact, it’s usually hard.  However, God promises that if we follow Him and His ways, shunning evil, He will be with us and strengthen us.  God’s ways often sound like foolishness to the world.  The world would say it’s foolish to give expecting nothing in return or to love your enemies.  The world thinks it’s foolishness for the Son of God to die for us.  But praise the Lord that He did!  God’s way is true and good.  It is true wisdom.  Even when the world, or our own self, have other ideas.

Heavenly Father,

You are good and Your ways are wise.  Forgive me for the times I have tried to do things my way instead of following You.  Help me to always look to You and follow Your ways.

In Christ,
Pastor Kurt
