Be Strong and Courageous – Old Testament Tuesday
I do love baseball. I love the history and the stories. I remember hearing about Hank Aaron coming to back against the Yankees in the World Series. Yogi berra was the catcher for the Yankees and he talked endlessly and started criticizing Hank Aaron for holding his bat wrong and not with the trademark up. On the next pitch Aaron hit a homerun and after rounding the bases told Yogi, “I did not come up to the plate to read.” Hank Aaron knew his purpose.
This great passage comes at the start of Joshua to remind Joshua that he needed to be strong and courageous. He was about to lead people at a time when they needed strength and courage. His courage was meant to come because God was always going to be with him. There are certain times in life when we need courage and the resolve to step out into difficult situations. God wants to remind you as he did with Joshua, that He goes wherever you go also.
