Praying With Jesus: A.C.T.S.
One way of having balance and focus in prayer is using this acrostic for prayer. A.C.T.S. The idea here is to use these 4 differing aspects of prayer. The first of these is A for adoration. The Psalms are full of verses of adoration.
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. (Psalm 139:13-14)
Praying in adoration is looking at God and seeing and celebrating the wonder of his work. Here in this Psalm, the adoration is in God’s design of our bodies. I have always marveled when studying the body and how all of the cells relate to each other and work together. Our DNA has billions of bits of information that show the depth of God’s insight and plans. The glory of God shines in so many places.
Lord, how incredible you are. When I see the universe I ponder the magnitude of your creation. When I see this world, I see incredible creativity. Help me to lift my eyes to see your glory with every sense you have given me. Amen
