Praying with Jesus: God Acts
Pastor’s Blog Day 14
March 14, 2017
When you pray…
…do you really believe God is listening?
…do you really believe God cares?
…do you really believe God will act?
Matthew 7:7-11 tell you:
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”
I think one of the reasons we don’t always pray as much as we could is because we don’t really think God is listening and working. After all, God doesn’t typically speak back to us audibly, we don’t see instant results, and sometimes the way God works isn’t the way we wanted.
But Jesus says the Father is listening. He cares like a good father. He helps and provides better than we earthly fathers ever could. Sure, sometimes that means He doesn’t give us exactly what we want. I don’t give my daughter exactly what she wants all the time either. But He does act. He gives good gifts. He gives what we really need. And most importantly, He draws us closer to Him as He acts on us.
I know that You hear me because You promise so in Your Word. I know that You love me because You sent Jesus to save me. Help me to come to You in prayer and trust that You will act…like a good Father would.
