Praying with Jesus: Pray in your Situation
Yesterday we had verse 18 where Paul talked about all kind of prayers. It continues with these two verses.
Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.- Ephesians 6:19-20
The apostle Paul wrote the letter of Ephesians from prison. I am struck by when he asked for prayers from God’ people, his immediate concern was not for a quick release, but that he would be fearlessly proclaiming the name of Jesus. I have made a few jokes about Paul preaching from prison in the past, “that he had a captive audience.” What he found out was that even in this tough situation he had found a way to tell many about the gospel of Jesus. He wanted them all to pray for him and for this congregation of prisoners and guards.
Lord help each of us use our situations to make known the message of Jesus. Thank you for the freedoms we do have but help us to use that freedom to live and speak up for you in every situation we find ourselves in life. We also pray for proclaiming the Gospel in a public setting, that their words be filled with the Spirit’s power. Amen.
