Pastor’s Blog – Nov. 27th
Dear Family of Christ,
It is Black Friday morning and there are no lines in the stores, except maybe in the checkout lines at Amazon and on-line. This weekend starts the season of Advent, the four weeks leading up to Christmas. It is a season of waiting. That message may one that is a familiar theme for 2020. We are waiting for things to get back to normal. We are waiting for travel to resume. We are waiting for the chance to visit many people that we love. We are waiting for a vaccine to bring life back to normal. I just put up the 4 Advent/Christmas banners in the church that express the message of the season.
O Come O Come Emmanuel
Jesus Light of the World
Glory to the newborn King
Waiting is a common theme in the scriptures. In fact doing it properly, with patience, is a fruit of the Spirit. We are called to wait and to be filled with hope. Because, wait till you see what God will do. Waiting on God to act should be similar to the excitement of when you wait in the line for your favorite ride, event, or show. Jesus first arrival in Bethlehem with grace and love will pale in comparison to what is yet to be revealed. Just as Paul says in 1 Corinthians. “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him. (1 Corinthians 2:9) While you wait this Advent season, see what God has done for you and in this world. Listen to the songs of the season that are filled with Hope and Joy. Imagine what will be in the future and forevermore in Christ Jesus.
