Devotion – November 22, 2015 – May We Be Happy and Joyful
Joy and happiness can be elusive. Life has its ups and downs and when we are down we can become rather unhappy. However, it doesn’t have to be so. I’m reminded of Philippians 3:13b-14
But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
When we focus on our problems, we take our eyes off of Christ and “prize for which God has called [us] heavenward in Christ Jesus”.
Whether in hardships or enjoying peace and plenty, we have always have the joy Christ set before us. He has made us righteous and He will bring us through any difficulty whether now or in eternity.
Today, I pray that you, whom God has made righteous, will be glad and rejoice before Him; may you be happy and joyful.
When I face hardship, help me to remember what You have already done for me and the hope I have in You that I may have joy, even in suffering. When life is going great, help me to still remember all You have done for me and continue to look to You and to have a joy that goes beyond my circumstances.
