Devotion – May 16, 2015 – He Came to Seek
Have you ever been lost? I mean truly lost. Not just not sure where you were going, but having no idea where you were or how to get home. I was reading the other day of a woman running a race through the forested mountains of New Zealand. She made a wrong turn and got disorientated. She was lost in the middle a of a wilderness with no idea where she was or how to get back home and no supplies. She was found, thankfully, after a day by a rescue helicopter. Her life was saved because people went out looking for her.
Jesus came to seek and save the lost. We were all spiritually lost. Blinded by the darkness of sin, we had no idea where we were or how to get home. Thankfully, Jesus didn’t wait for us to figure it out and find our way home. He came to us. He sought us in order to save us and take us home to be with Him for all eternity. Praise the Lord!
Even as Christians sometimes we still can feel lost. One wrong step leads to another and soon we feel like we have no hope and no way back home. Jesus is still the way. You can never get so lost that Jesus cannot find you. You can never to so wrong, that He wouldn’t seek you. No matter how lost we feel, we can always turn to Jesus.
Sometimes I feel so lost in the world. Remind me of the promise You have made that You seek the lost and You save the lost.
