Devotion – May 11, 2015 – Raising Children in the Faith

2timothy3_15From infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
—2 Timothy 3:15

When did you first hear about Jesus?  Perhaps you were baptized as an infant and had a Mom and/or Dad who raised you in the faith.  If so, be thankful!  Yes, God’s Word works in the hearts and minds of all who hear it, creating faith, even in infants.  What a blessing it is to hear God’s precious Word from the earliest days of life.

Now, as you are all grown up, you also have the opportunity to give that gift by sharing the Word of God with your children, if you have children, and/or other children you know.  Children may not be able to understand complex ideas or abstract concepts, but they can learn the stories from the Bible and they can know that Jesus loves them.  Your never too young (or too old for that matter) to hear that Jesus loves you.

Dear Jesus,
You say, “Let the little children come to me.”  Thank you that you love little children so much.  Help me share the love of Jesus with the children in my life and to always remember that I, too, am a child of God.

In Christ’s Service,
Pastor Kurt Steinbrueck
