Deacon Update from Chair, Randy Larsen

Randy Larsen, Deacon Chair

Dear Friends in Christ,

As we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic we can reflect on the number of ways in which we have been blessed. At Family of Christ we have continued to offer our ministries and have maintained our spiritual connections.

As you know, FOC has celebrated 20 years of blessed ministry and we are excited about our next 20 years! Our Board of Deacons has been has been planning on the transition from COVID-19 to post COVID-19 ministry including expanding our ministries within FOC and extending to our community. We are committed to spiritual of our ministry! As part of this growth, the Deacons are looking to begin a new Sunday school ministry to begin in August, expanded Bible study programs, a USF student ministry and a number of small group ministries within the congregation. Please continue to look through the bulletin for our ministry opportunities!

We are also looking for Deacons who feel called by our Lord to participate in the expansion of the FOC ministries! Feel free to contact Pastor Dave or any of our Deacons if you are interested in serving.

Be looking for Deacons updates!!

In the service of our Lord,

My wife and I joined Family of Christ nearly 18 years ago! We were extraordinarily blessed to find this ministry! We moved to Tampa from Kahalu’u Hawaii in 2002 as I had an opportunity to join the chemistry faculty at USF. We both grew up in Albuquerque NM and spent two years in Pasadena CA before moving to Hawaii. I have served as Sunday school teacher and as a Deacon for over 6 years! My wife, Lorna, has also been extensively involved in the FOC music ministry and is now assisting Pastor Kurt in our satellite ministry in Wesley Chapel. We have two adult children. Our son serves in the United States Coast Guard in Hobucken North Carolina and our daughter is a grade school teacher at Oak Grove Elementary School here in Tampa. We are enormously blessed to have two amazing children! We also have three amazing grandchildren each one a glorious gift from God!

My favorite Bible passage is: Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
