  • Share your favorite chili recipe as a contestant
  • There will be a DJ and the field will be lit from 5-9 pm
  • acoustic music around the fire from 9-10 pm
  • Great Family Fun and Fellowship
  • Donate your Christmas Tree to burn  
  • Beer will be available for a donation
  • Classes will have their annual fundraising tables

Unity and Forgiveness in the Church – Sermon Follow-Up

So when Peter went up to Jerusalem, the circumcised believers criticized him and said, ‘You went into the house of uncircumcised men and ate with them.’ Starting from the beginning, Peter told them the whole story:…When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, ‘So then, even to Gentiles God has granted repentance that leads to life.’”

Yesterday at the North Campus we looked at Acts 11:1-18.  In this passage we see the Jewish Christians dealing with the transition from the old covenant established with Israel back in Exodus to the new covenant established in Jesus Christ by His death and resurrection.

A Hug And A Swift Kick

hebrews10_25“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another–and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
-Hebrews 10:24-25

These two verses have an interesting dichotomy. Verse 24 challenges us to spur each other into deeds of love and verse 25 asks us to encourage each other. In some ways this is very similar to having both positive and negative reinforcement. Everyone likes having someone encouraging them but few would like to have a sharp pain in their rib cage that comes from a spur attached to a boot. Sometimes church can be difficult.  We want to sleep in, we don’t like how someone does something, the seats are uncomfortable, etc.  And today, you can read articles on blogs, watch worship services online, or read your Bible on your iPad and all from the comfort of your own home.  You don’t even have to change out of you pjs.  So, why would we forgo the extra sleep, put on pants, and go to church?
