Praying with Jesus: Make Time to Pray
I used this verse with the students at School this week to talk about today’s walkathon.
“Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:30-31)
I just finished the School walkathon and did 11 laps around our nature trail. The trail is .52 miles long. If you have never walked the trail, please walk it sometime after church. There are exercise stations as well as inspirational prayer passages printed along the route. One of the keys to powerful prayer is figuring out ways that incorporate prayer into your daily routine. The greatest roadblock to prayer is becoming too busy or preoccupied with other things to even make time to pray. Prayer by its very nature is putting your hope in the Lord. You will find that even if your life is moving faster than you would like that time in prayer will energize everything you do, so that you do not grow weary and maybe even soar.
Lord, help me to make time for you in prayer. May I see daily moments to bring all things and every part of myself to you in times of prayer. Living with and for you brings refreshment for my soul and joy to every part of life. Help me soar on wings like an eagle. Amen.
