Devotion – September 11, 2015 – Fix Your Eyes On Jesus
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
What is love? Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for a friend. That’s just what Jesus did. Knowing that joy of bringing salvation to mankind and redeeming all creation, the Son of God humbled Himself and endured the mocking, beatings, whipping, and death on a cross. Having defeated death and hell and saved us, He now sits in glory at the right hand of the throne of God.
So, we look to the one who did this for us for all life, hope, and salvation. We look to Him for direction and meaning. We look to Him for comfort and peace. As the world tries to distract us with it’s lies and illusions, fix your eyes on Him who not only died for us but created and perfected the faith within us to receive His promise of salvation.
Today is 9/11. As we remember those who died in the twin towers, let us also be reminded that because Jesus endured the cross we know that death no longer has any power over those who have faith in Him.
Thank you. Thank you for humbling Yourself. Thank you for enduring the mockery and physical abuse. Thank you for dying for me and all mankind. Thank you for giving me faith to believe. Keep my eyes trained on You for You are my hope and salvation.
