Church Services Resume 5/16
Dear Family of Christ:
As we continue to navigate the world of COVID-19, a world filled with fear and anxiety we are never far from Gods love for us. The Bible is a constant reminder that we are children of God and should not be afraid…Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand”. However, it is not easy as we face loss of income, social distancing from friends and loved ones, and fear of being infected. But be assured, the Lord will continue to serve as our shepherd through this crisis… Psalm 34:4 “I sought the Lord and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.”!
The FOC Board of Deacons, Church Council and Pastor Dave have been continually monitoring the various city, county, state and federal orders/guidelines regarding our worship services in order to develop a plan to phase back to regular worship. Many of us probably feel like the
early Christians who had to worship in hiding for fear of persecution! At least we have Pastor Dave in a live stream! With the easing of state and local stay-at-home orders and the opening of businesses, we are
planning to resume, with some restrictions, regular worship services on the weekend of May 16 and 17.
Saturday evening- 6 PM
Sunday mornings- 9 AM and 11 AM
As we phase back into our worship services, we must do it in such a way as to minimize coronavirus health risks. The best way in which to move forward safely is to hold our services at 25% occupancy for the near term. This puts our congregational limit to ~60 attending the services. We also need to continue social distancing while attending services. Families groups, friends and individuals should stay ~6 feet apart while in the sanctuary. The Deacons will assist in seating to accommodate distancing. The church will work to ensure proper sanitation of the sanctuary. We will also limit access to the confined space of the Narthex. We will move
the coffee, snacks, bulletins, etc to the outside area near the fountain. This allows for us to have fellowship time with others while maintaining social distancing. The CDC also recommends the wearing of facemasks if possible.
Although certainly not back to ‘worship as usual’ we are starting to move in that direction! The church leadership will continue to monitor the pandemic guidelines and adjust our services as appropriate.
Remember, Isaiah 40:31 “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to Pastor Dave or any of the FOC Deacons!
